Six Plays. Six Stages. One Enchanted Evening! Lamplight Dialogues: The Ghost of Puddle Dock Come to Life
Visit the ghosts of Puddle Dock as they truly were. In the parlors before the fire or around dining tables by candlelight, their stolen secrets, haunted pasts, and family feuds and reconciliations will play out on their original stages. In this dramatization of the characters of Strawbery Banke, Harbor Light Stage gives you a ring-side seat in the homes of Portsmouth's former residents as they do what families have always done: plan for the future, celebrate the past, dream, recriminate, worry, reach accommodation, and exchange sentiments of love and loyalty. For the price of a single ticket, you will be guided around the grounds of Strawbery Banke to witness six separate plays, each staged in its own historic property.Spanning Portsmouth history from 1789 to WWII, this original script, written and directed by Kent Stephens, runs 1 hour and 45 minutes with a brief intermission, culminating in an exhilarating and moving conclusion in which audiences and characters are united for a finale and curtain call around the bonfire in the middle of Puddle Dock. Please note, due to the historic structure of the properties and the "promenade" nature of this theatrical performance, handicap accessibility is not available, and walking and some standing should be expected. Admission is suitable for ages 12 and up. This History Theatre project has been made possible with generous support from: Cogswell Benevolent Trust; the Davis Family Foundation; the Fuller Foundation, Inc.; the Headlands Foundation; RMC Research Corporation; and the Thompson Foundation.
